Frequently asked Questions
Park Lake is just 62 miles southeast of Goose Bay, in the shadow of the towering Mealy Mountains, at the head waters of the mighty Eagle River where the clear mountain waters from melting snow and ice flow into countless tributaries and streams that makes up the main watershed for the Eagle. Here in abundance, the lakes and rivers are teeming with the spectacular speckled trout.
Reservations are generally made well in advance. Our fishing packages are all inclusive of ground transportation, flights to/from the Lodge, lodging, meals, linens, towels, bedding, fishing, one guide per two fishermen, boats, motors and gas. Our “fishing week”, the 7 day package, runs from Saturday through to the following Saturday (subject to change). Anglers should arrive Goose Bay on the Friday prior to the commencement of their fishing week; on the return portion, an early morning Park Lake to Goose Bay charter flight enables a return home on the Saturday following.
3 day package price for 2012 is $2410.00 CDN plus appropriate taxes and license fees.
A deposit of $1000.00 per person is required to confirm space. This deposit is non-refundable. Payment of deposit may be by way of cheque, bank draft, electronic transfer or money order. Please remit payments to "IDLP Properties Limited Partnership".
Group leaders will be sent an invoice approximately 60 days prior to occupancy of space at Park Lake indicating final amount owing. Final balance is payable 30 days prior to scheduled Park Lake occupancy date.
If there’s one item that can cause us both “grief”, it’s the weather. Try as we may, it can’t be controlled. You have our personal assurance that if weather does foul things up, we will do our absolute utmost to get our guests to or from the Lodge as quickly and efficiently as possible. It should be understood that should your charter flight not operate as scheduled, there are other outfitters who also have charter arrangements on that same aircraft.
For the record, it should be also understood that…
Generally, unless otherwise requested, arrangements are made to move our guests to/from Park Lake by way of fixed wing aircraft; sometimes (rarely) helicopters, in the event of very poor weather, can get to Park Lake when fixed wing aircraft cannot. If it is your wish and if this eventuality comes to pass, we can attempt to arrange helicopter transport, if you are prepared to pick up the extra cost. Please remember that safety is our prime concern. We will not push pilots or airlines to undercut limits, which are known to be in the best interest of all health and safety. Life is much too short for that.
As mentioned, we are wilderness located, accessible only by air. Wildlife abounds! One may be lucky enough to see black bear, caribou, moose, muskrat, beaver, fox, marten and mink in their natural habitat.
Varieties of birds, too numerous to mention, can be observed throughout the angling season. We take pride in the fact that we don’t leave behind a single tin can; all our refuse is taken to our incinerator on a remote island where it is incinerated, stored in sealed containers and removed from the Park Lake area.
We encourage all our guests to help us in maintaining the pristine nature of Labrador.
